through the smoke and to the sky

 I went to MOCA's opening of Double Standard, the Dennis Hopper retrospective this past Saturday night. The show felt underwhelming, though Hopper was doubtless a major presence in the American art scene of the past 40 years, the show didn't do much to honor who he was as a person, actor, writer and collector, which I imagine are the things he will be most remembered for.
