this is the way we talk when we talk about

Being my first spring as a pesca vegetarian, I am loving the bursting farmers markets and devouring all
veggie/vegan food blogs, including the new (to me) favorite, Sprouted Kitchen. While working 50+ hour weeks leaves little time to cook, I try and prepare veggies and salads that I can enjoy as a couple different meals. Though I can't imagine anything more delicious to come home too than that chard apple gruyere grilled cheese. Until I can bring myself to make that, I'll settle any day for the veggie club from my neighborhood favorite.

It's in my honey it's in my milk

Just got my copy of Alice Water's newest book, In the Green Kitchen, and as opposed
to her earlier fresh cooking bible, The Art of Simple Food, it is more
technique than recipe based, and perfect for someone like myself
who is not quite at home in the kitchen just yet.
I can't wait to get my hands into it.

Made such a delish dinner I couldn't resist sharing..
That would be my very own asparagus/pea/mushroom penne with a
homemade lemon pesto..
I am really getting into cooking, which is a very new thing for me.
But I find it highly gratifying.
Especially using my homegrown herbs and vegetables.
I highly recommend it.

Except for the dishes part.

Enjoying some insane new music, will share tomorrow.
For now, closing up the computer. Spent far too much time on here today.

Lovely finds from the Hollywood Farmer's Market, 1. 24.10

Although my eyelids may feel heavy, and sleep can't be very far off, this Sunday was definitely one for the books. These pictures are from last Sunday's Farmer's Market. More to come on todays happenings, for now I'll leave you with a great song..

here's to fabulous weekends..

I had one of my best weekends in a long time. Started out arriving from Vancouver to a rainy LA, then getting ready in record time, jetting across town to Silverlake, picked up a couple of wonderful bottles of white from Silverlake Wine, then dinner with old, fabulous friends at Speranza. Such a lovely evening with old friends and new. Then spent a long, lazy Sunday in bed. Ended the lazy day with an absolutely delicious dinner at Bottega Louie downtown. Such a beautiful restaurant, felt more like NYC than anywhere else in LA. (Oh, and loved every bite.) My favorite part of the weekend was simply walking around downtown, taking in all of the Christmas lights and music at Pershing Park. Though not the most productive weekend, I'm coming off of it feeling inspired and lightened. Now its back to reality, which for me this week means grad school apps, unpacking and cleaning, helping my grandparents move, and hopefully making some new jewelry and posting it on etsy. Just so thankful for all of the lovely experience as of late, and looking forward to a busy week!
