wishing..

As the rain was falling when I woke up this morning, I couldn't help but wish I was waking up somewhere else. Preferably somewhere with snow and a big fire. LA just doesn't seem quite right when it rains. Although it is arguably never more beautiful afterwards, it's landscape is so much better suited to sun drenched afternoons and warm-wind blown nights. But this brings me back to this cold, damp morning, and never being one to dwell on the negative, I am looking forward to breaking out my cherry red rain coat and trecking out into the city. I am in need of a day of adventure. Looking forward to seeing where it takes me.

I finally got around to uploading pictures of my trip to Vancouver (the eternal slacker in me) so here are pictures primarily of my grandparents home and a hike I took out to "lighthouse point" in West Vancouver (I saw no lighthouse for the record). Such a magical place in general, hope to go back very soon..

(500)

Just finished watching (500) days of summer for the bajillionth time.. I love that movie more and more each time. Beyond the soundtrack and the beautiful imagery of Los Angeles, I just adore the development of the characters and the insight into love and relationships. PS Zoe Deschanel's hair cut is my idol. PSS her apartment makes me really want to plaster wallpaper everywhere. Really though, this movie accurately summarizes everyone's own love affair with this grand city. In the end, it leaves you with a beautiful, nostalgic feeling of longing, an overarching sense of hope, and the remembrance that fate can kiss you in the face with every turn of the corner. So keep on hoping...

Let me go..

I had to break someone's heart this weekend. It was nothing new, and a long time coming, but it didn't make it any easier. I couldn't have written a song any more appropriate. Have been listening to the Chapin Sisters for a while now, but a lot today. So beautiful. As for my situation, I hope this now brings us both peace, but unfortunately that doesn't help our hearts feel any better today.
On a much better note, prior to last night, had a lovely holidays. Saw old friends, relaxed with family, and spent some beautiful time in Santa Barbara. Glad to be back in LA though, it was interesting to return home for a couple of days, and really miss LA. I have been thinking a lot about New York as of late. Really want to get back there soon.

Well I am sincerely hoping to post some new jewelry this week on Etsy, but more than anything looking forward to hosting some friends at my home this week. Finally got my dining room set and some beautiful rugs and other hand me downs from my grand parents who were redecorating, will also do my best to post pics soon. Love my little haven more than ever.

fa la la la la.

the morning after, 12.20.09

After a night of holiday parties, all that remained the next morning were my tights (interesting) and my newest favorite festive nail color (OPI My Private Jet). Was a..... unique..... night to say the least. Went to 2 holiday soiree, very adult affairs, and by that I mean hors d'oeuvres, jazz, a lack of dancing and unfortunately rather dull conversation. Tant pis, and that also goes for my lackluster date for the evening. But more than enough on that note, was thankful for the abundance of wine and a reason to get dressed up. Too bad I didn't get any pictures, because I was really enjoying my outfit.. At least I was able to come home to my own personal foot warmer..

here's to fabulous weekends..

I had one of my best weekends in a long time. Started out arriving from Vancouver to a rainy LA, then getting ready in record time, jetting across town to Silverlake, picked up a couple of wonderful bottles of white from Silverlake Wine, then dinner with old, fabulous friends at Speranza. Such a lovely evening with old friends and new. Then spent a long, lazy Sunday in bed. Ended the lazy day with an absolutely delicious dinner at Bottega Louie downtown. Such a beautiful restaurant, felt more like NYC than anywhere else in LA. (Oh, and loved every bite.) My favorite part of the weekend was simply walking around downtown, taking in all of the Christmas lights and music at Pershing Park. Though not the most productive weekend, I'm coming off of it feeling inspired and lightened. Now its back to reality, which for me this week means grad school apps, unpacking and cleaning, helping my grandparents move, and hopefully making some new jewelry and posting it on etsy. Just so thankful for all of the lovely experience as of late, and looking forward to a busy week!

pretty things

I've finally done it! I've just listed my first things on my etsy shop, and I can't wait to get everything up there! A little background on my jewelry- I've been making jewelry for years, but have been selling my bracelets and necklaces in a beautiful boutique called DIANI in Santa Barbara for the past year. With my move to Los Angeles, I took my pieces with me and set out to improve them and create more. By selling them myself, I am able to not only have a direct relationship with customers, but the best part is they can be bought for so much less! I hope that everyone loves them as much as I do!

trying to stay warm..

Brrrr... I'm up in Vancouver for the week, where though its absolutely gorgeous, it is absolutely freezing! Luckily no rain and all sun, but it creates for a bitter, biting cold. I really can't complain though, the sights are so breathtaking. Vancouver feels like a cosmopolitan, European city, but then you drive 20 minutes out of the city and you find yourself driving along the ocean surrounded by 50 foot tall pine trees. Pictures to come of my grandparents beautiful home. I'm sitting here currently, looking out over the ocean, to all of the small islands and snow capped mountains, and am so thankful for traveling. There is nothing like it to expand one's horizons. Also thrilled that Charlotte Gainsbourg's new album came out in Canada, so I bought a CD while I was out, as it isn't due out until the end of January in the US. What a novel experience it was to go into a CD store! I can't even remember the last time I bought a CD. Anyways, for your listening pleasure, here is her single, Heaven Can Wait. I must get back to my book and my warm spot by the fire...

getting through it..

well, the week is moving along, and I've made it through thus far. Tomorrow I'm taking the GRE, and looking very forward to being done with it. It has been pretty much all consuming, and I haven't been able to think about much else. So I'm back to studying, but I'll leave this video of a song I have on repeat, repeat, repeat right now..
