heart reckless abandon

The artist is the confidant of nature, flowers carry on dialogues with him through the graceful bending of their stems and the harmoniously tinted nuances of their blossoms. Every flower has a cordial word which nature directs towards him.

I enjoy that they think I'm a bad boy.

I've loved Jean-Michel Basquiat since long before I had any
idea of his relevance.

Something in his works resonated with my sheltered, Santa Barbara bred
13 year old self.
{All thanks to a certain Mr. Irwin}

And that never changed. They are still as enigmatic as the day they were made.

Can't wait to see the new documentary, Jean-Michel Basquiat- The Radiant Child
which premiered last night at MoMA.

heart skipped a beat, when i caught it you were out of reach

In honor of yesterday's post, I've decided to compile some of my favorite things.

wine.
{doesn't everyone need 3 kinds with dinner}
on that note long, exorbitant dinners shared with friends and family.

California.
Sun drenched afternoons spent by the beach.

Shoes + Art.
{individually and collectively}

My bed. It's big and deliciously squishy.
Sometimes its bright and colorful,
other times its all white.
But it's always my top 5 favorite places to be.

my momma.
especially with Joseph Beuys.

Adventures.
In cars or otherwise.

Lists of favorite things happen to be, well
{one of my favorite things}

This was an especially good one.
Though I wouldn't expect anything less
from Isabel Marant.

An eternal favorite of mine.

Here is a tour of the new store
{which I can't wait to peruse}
by Ms. Marant herself.

If I were to be in New York next Friday, this is where I'd be.

Kerry Tribe's video, H.M (2009) was my favorite piece in this year's Whitney Biennial. If you can't make it that night, definitely check it out any other time.

I think we can take it.

I've had this overwhelming sense of joy today. It's not a particularly special day or anything, but I've just been thinking about my friends, and that makes me happy. I've got some pretty special people that have come in and out of my life the past 25 years, and I'm so thankful to have met each and everyone of them. I firmly believe I wouldn't be who I am without having met everyone, both for the good and the bad, I am left with the most amazing people on the planet that I am lucky enough to call my friends. Whether or not we see each other or talk everyday, every week or every month, I know I could call them in the middle of the night and I would have a listening ear on the other end, and vice versa. And that gives me the strength to do whatever it is I may want to do.

I look forward to many years ahead, spent with both old friends and new, and the many adventures we will share together.

And perhaps yes, I am specifically referring to the next couple of nights.

Can't wait.

And if you don't believe how epic them will be, here is but a glimpse.

Seriously though, who would you be without your friends? Think about the answer to that. And let them know.

And to any of my friends who may be reading this,
I love you more than you know.

Loving these sneak pics from the upcoming Santa Barbara Magazine {one of my all time favorites, and not just because I'm biased. It's a really beautiful magazine. Clean, crisp and gorgeously edited} Can't wait for the June/July issue. This shoot happened at one of my favorite spots in Santa Barbara that I used to go as a kid, Nojoqui falls...

I wanna be where your heart is home.

Finally- I had time to go through all my photos from NY and I am so delighted to share the lovely home of three of the most fabulous people in the world, Els, Als and Kirsten. They opened up their beautiful home to me for a week and I am forever grateful- I mean how could you not be inspired and in love with such a beautiful space? More than anything though they truly made it into a home. Enjoy.

Those Schroeder sisters have a serious way with interiors. I love the inherent subtlety which allows for the natural beauty of objects to shine through. Those two will go very far.

Personally, I'm anxiously awaiting the opening of their general store.. Someday soon, yes?
