I could fly above this summer all day long

Old {new} polaroids, picnic at pratt, 7.31.10

Had a wonderful, moving, loving, emotion filled day. I wouldn't have been anywhere else, but needless to say it was a day that reiterated the importance of living in the moment, and hopefully that moment includes dear friends and family. I am slowly learning how to live separate from my family in California, and how to build a life of my own. And luckily for me this life includes some very special people...

You can't carry it with you if you want to survive

Shots from the East River, 7.29.10

It's been nearly 3 weeks since my last blog post, and I couldn't even try and begin to give you the short hand. So many amazing things, culminating in my move from la to nyc. Life most definitely at its best. I can't make any promises, but will try and do a better job and keeping an account of my happenings for those I have left on the west coast..

through the smoke and to the sky

I went to MOCA's opening of Double Standard, the Dennis Hopper retrospective this past Saturday night. The show felt underwhelming, though Hopper was doubtless a major presence in the American art scene of the past 40 years, the show didn't do much to honor who he was as a person, actor, writer and collector, which I imagine are the things he will be most remembered for. The stand out was definitely his vintage photography, loved the shots of the beautiful women of the sixties, such as the amazing four of Tuesday Weld..

when your heart is beating lighter

Such an insanely crazy couple of weeks, so much travel, art, life and wonderment. Unfortunately it leaves little time for blogging, which makes me very sad. Some huge changes lie ahead in the coming weeks, which I couldn't be any more excited for, but am currently a little daunted by all that must happen before my big move. Just wanted to share for any of you who read this, I haven't completely forgotten about all this, but life has just simply been too wonderfully busy to do anything but live it...

And when there is nothing left to pretend...

Off to Palm Springs tomorrow for a much needed weekend of nothing but some hot desert sun, poolside reading, and endless laughs with the family... Palm Springs is one of my all time favorite places, I grew up spending almost every weekend there, even in the summers when the temperatures soar, I eat it up.. I love visiting and thinking of all the old Hollywood movie stars, lounging by the pool with a martini in one hand, a cigarette in the other and some records..

One of my favorite parts is simply the drive out there.. So magical and serene..

Love all the quirky shops...

mmm..

What more do you need??

And some sixties-esque jams to set the mood...
